Brunnenpassage (AUSTRIA)

Project leader of this application is the ArtSocialSpace Brunnenpassage in Vienna. Brunnenpassage was founded 2007 and is a laboratory and space for practicing transcultural and participatory art. It offers a manifold program of contemporary art in the genres of dance, music, theatre and film. All events are free to the public. Each year more than 400 events take place in the venue, which is situated in the heart of a functioning street market. The activities are characterized as formats for participation, inviting the local population. As a model ArtSocialSpace, Brunnenpassage initiates numerous cooperations with large cultural institutions in the city. Artistic quality and political goals are combined to create new collective spaces for a heterogenic audience, offering authentic and self-defined cooperation and participation beyond usual definitions and possibilities. Brunnenpassage’s team consists of cultural workers, producers, artists, project managers and innovators with a strong focus on transcultural cooperative art projects. The team speaks a variety of languages and has repeatedly participated in international conferences and therefore gained vast international work experience. Members of BP have been part of the European Comissions’ OMC on cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue within the last two periods.

Studio ALTA (CZECH REPUBLIC)

Studio ALTA in Prague is run by ALT@RT, z.ú. It’s mission is to support independent artistic work and the development of dance art in the Czech Republic as a catalyst for the common dialogue between artists and the local community. The goal is to seek innovative artistic expression interconnected with top-notch professional artists, art school graduates, NGO´s, and general public. Along with the professional artistic programme, there are also multidisciplinary, community, and educational activities taking place here. Yearly Studio ALTA presents more than 150 shows, hosts 80 events in the Cafe/Living Room, organises 10-15 workshops, hosts over 150 artists and welcomes more than 20 000 spectators. Studio ALTA emerged from local needs and particularities, but it operates in an international context. Since 2015, it has been a member of Trans Europe Halles and ceaselessly confronts its work with foreign experience thanks to the numerous participation in international festivals and conferences. Studio ALTA has an expertise in performances and events within a broader social context and has a focus on working with children. Studio ALTA constantly confronts their experience with the international know-how and had their projects selected for Aerowaves. As a polyfunctional cultural centre and creative hub with an all-purpose utilization the small team has a broad programme to offer.

DSCHUNGEL WIEN (AUSTRIA)

DSCHUNGEL WIEN, DW, is an institution of a unique diversity of performing art forms for young audience between 0 to 20 years. With around 500 performances per season, DW represents a huge range of theatre and dance events with a main focus on artistic quality and its audience. DW shows productions at its three in-house stages, but also puts a strong emphasis on local as well as global relations across Europe and beyond through cooperation, guest performances, festivals and international co-productions. Young artists, professionals as well as non-professionals, from all over Europe take part in DW´s creative processes. Besides the productions DW offers diverse workshop formats, DW holds strong ties to theatre and dance pedagogues and universities. Under the new artistic director, the transcultural as well as the work with people from socially and educationally weaker backgrounds shall be intensified. DW is working with a wide range of independent Austrian performance groups. It is a theatre and dance house with a strong emphasis on international exchange and networking across Europe and beyond. DW has a long-lasting special experience in dance for young children. The staff of DW is a multidisciplinary team with diverse backgrounds ranging from decades of professional theatre experience, cultural managers, pedagogues, people trained in social and cultural studies of different generations.
