On Friday, 2nd and Saturday, 3rd of March a free movement workshop and casting took place at the ArtSocialSpace Brunnenpassage. We have been looking for kids, between 8 and 11 years, for the theatre production ‘In my dreams I feel free’. Of course, it was also a lot about having fun with the plenty of great applicants.
25 children took part and worked together as a team. We’ve been really glad to reach that many different, great kids, and about the positive and creative energy they took with. The Dschungel Wien and the Brunnenpassage would like to say thank you for all the participants and hope to see them really soon again.

On the 2. and 3. of March 2018 a free movement workshop and casting for the production ‘In my dreams I feel free’ will take place at Brunnenpassage. We will work on the topics of sleeping and dreaming.

The casting is part of the Creative Europe-Project „Living Realities. Changing Perceptions“. Co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union
Choreographers and dancers from Dschungel Wien and Studio Alta Prague met from October 26th till 29th at Brunnenpassage in a free body movement workshop with children from Prague and Vienna. They worked together on the topics of sleeping and dreaming. This workshop was a kick-off for the creation process of “In my dreams I feel free?!”, the dance performance with children by Dschungel Wien, which will be presented at the Vernissage of the travelling exhibition “Stages of a Flight” in Vienna in October 2018. Furthermore, I was an inspiring exchange between the partners in Prague and Vienna at the early stage of the performance development and a important shared experience for the choreographers, dancers and children from both countries.

During the vernissage in Oktober 2017 at Brunnenpassage the exhibition “Stages of a Flight” will “come alive” in the performance “In my dreams I feel free?!” by Dschungel Wien, a theatre house for children and young people. Choreographer Sanja Troop-Frühwald and the volunteer organization Flucht nach Vorne, who works with teenage refugees, will create a theatrical & dance performance with children inspired by the topic of the exhibition and taking place within the exhibition rooms. During intense workshops children of diverse backgrounds will work on the topic of sleeping and dreaming, especially under circumstances like an escape. As the war in Syria has continued for almost five years and more than two million children are fleeing the war, within and outside of the country borders. They´ve been sleeping on the road, in the forest, pavements and refugee camps as they attempt to make their way to Europe. The process starts out by offering theatre workshops with children as well refugees and children coming from Vienna to set a bound of trust and confidence in each other. Sleeping and dreaming and having nightmares is a common issue with children growing up. Therefore the participants will exchange their experience in sleeping and what it means going to bed for each of them. Being afraid of dying is a very normal issue also for children without having fled from war and experiencing death very closely. They exchange their thoughts and feelings as well as their habits of sleeping. Some may need a lot of cuddly toys, cushions or blankets others only have one very close doll. As the group acts very strongly from a physical aspect as well, they will look at the way they move in sleep and through movement and dance, move into another reality where they feel save and warm.
The idea is to work with the children on a story, which is being set in their dreams. In the end everything is brought together to a dance performance where children will be dancing with professionals. As part of the process the children will design their own cushion that give them the feeling of safety and protection. These will become an element of the performance.
